The Nevada Veterans Alliance (NVA) is a non-profit organization that provides specific financial support and guidance to Veterans who face challenges with acclimating back into the civilian sector. The mission of the foundation is to “Stop the Cycle” for Veterans who have turned to self medication as a means to thwart depression, stress, and anxiety. More often than not, self medication leads to a series of events that causes legal, family, and social problems. The NVA provides support to Stop the Cycle through three distinct approaches.
1. The NVA provides Veterans with medical, clinical, and dental care through a network of professionals who have joined the NVA as support volunteers. These professionals will ensure that a Veteran is seen no later than 48 hours after contacting their offices for an appointment.
2. The NVA provides Veterans who are entering, or currently existing in the entrepreneurial arena with experienced attorneys who offer pro-bono services, financial aide for business licensing, and business mentors to ensure that Veteran owned business succeed.
3. The NVA provides financial aide for counseling and mandatory court fees to Veterans who have been accepted into the Veterans Court Treatment Program.
Why Was NVA Created?
The Nevada Veterans Alliance was created after its founder, a Combat Veteran, returned home from overseas duty and faced tough challenges that many Veterans encounter with reclamation into the civilian sector. As part of his commitment to “paving the road smoother” for all Veterans returning home after him, he established the NVA.
Veterans Returning Home
When Veterans leave the armed forces they often face financial difficulties, a loss of identity, and a need to reclaim a place in society that reflects the respect they deserve. Often times Veterans experience depression, anxiety, and PTSD which leads to drugs and alcohol as a self medication process. This process starts a downward spiral that causes family turmoil, crimes while under the influence, and jail incarceration. The NVA was established to stop the cycle by providing Veterans the support they need before the self medication process begins.
